Day 30

So...my Dad pulled out in front of someone traveling Way too quickly...and because he doesn't drive an invisible car....his front end was just thrashed...

That thing got a Hemi?

Day 29

Just for the record...it is a metal roof...I'm pretty sure...I wouldn't be re-roofing it myself...Secondly...check this pic out...I'm pretty sure we wouldn't / couldn't scramble to the roof...in the very rare situation where flood waters would rise...I mean...when does it flood in Louisiana???

It's a cool shot though...

Day 28

Seriously...
The house may be a little 'off-center'....but...the yard is unbelievably cool...

This was one of the other houses I went and looked at today...

Day 27

Another Day...another dollar...
I don't have anything funny...
or a cool photo to share...

it's just sorta...another day...

Day 26

For some of you...who have called me over the past 4 weeks or so...you may have experienced an echo over my 'fancy' iphone...
I attempted to resolve the issue with AT&T...and myapple over the phone....to no resolution....
So...Thankfully...I discovered a BRAND SPANKIN' NEW
Apple store has just been built here...

Anyways...they traded my phone in...and during my first phone call to Janet...she says it's still echoing...
stupid iphone....

oh....and I want to go check this house out at an open house on Sunday....Janet thinks it's ugly....What do
ya'll think?

Day 25

Stupid Adam...
It's been right at 4 months since I've been able to remove my wedding band because 'Dan Marino' decided that when he warmed up he had to throw the ball as hard as he can....

Just fiddlin' around with it today...it slipped off....
Then I put it right back on...and now....I can't get it off again...

Thanks Adam.

Day 24

Concerned Citizens...
Those are my new buzz words...
People that have genuine concerns with their neighbors because they are illegal immigrants...or they have too many dogs...or their property is being encroached on...or they have a pig...or...then they killed that same pig...

I've heard there may be a pool as to how long I'll last...

Day 23

Another Day...Another Dollar...

Nothing new to report today...Business as usual...

Here's something...for all you tech saavy people out there....check out skype...it's a program that allows you to video chat with other skype users for free...

Basically every night...when feasible...I'm able to log on and chat with the family back home over our high speed internet connections...and it doesn't cost us a nickel...

It's pretty cool....
No good iphone pics today...So...I'm posting another fair photo...Those are the compressed hay cubes that we fed to the elephants...We figured if we paid the dollar...the elephant would be less likely to RAMPAGE through the fair...We were right...

Day 22

Sunday morning...the family went to church...and got ready for a little afternoon Football...

Dean had a double header and played GREAT! He scored 2 touchdowns and had several flag pulls and made sitting in the HEAT with my video camera bearable...

Needless to say...Sunday evening was difficult as I had to say goodbye to my family....again...
There is NOTHING...that compares to hearing your 4 year tell you that he doesn't want you to leave again because he's going to miss you...

This is truly the most difficult thing that I have ever had to do...and I pray that somehow the space time continum speeds up or folds or something...and the next 6 weeks goes by quickly...

Day 21

Today I got to see the DANIMAL in action...
Danial is a beast on the soccer field...He scored another 3 goals today...That makes 7 goals in 2 games...
Even the Ref gave him a high five...It's fun to watch one of the smallest kids on the field run circles around the rest of them...He's so awesome!

Then in the afternoon, we went to the County fair...and pretty much anything they were tall enough to ride....They Rode...
The next time they rode this one...I rode with Daniel...notice his Vice-like grip on that bar...I tried to pry him loose...and he just wouldn't let it go...It was a fun day that we got to spend with The Hestons and the Ishams...oh...Dave and Roxanne were there too...Fearing the rides and the fair food...I'm pretty sure their highlight of the afternoon was the livestock...But it coulda been the World's Smallest Woman...

Day 20

4:40 am...It's the first time in a LONG time my body has been up at that time in the morning...But today is Friday...and I get to go home...for the first time in 3 weeks...

Did some Yard work, met some of the guys for lunch...Then we surprised the boys by picking them up early...they had no idea I was coming into town...

I tried to take a picture of the 'reveal' moment...but...it was all blurry...Regardless...we had fun the rest of the day...

Dean had Flag Football Practice and we got to hang out and just play...Which was all kinds of fun..

I'd say they look like they've grown...but...Id be lying...
Nala...on the other hands looks to be getting bigger...

Day 19

Mostly Junk...
About a Hundred or so bucks a month...
That's what we're storing...and that's what we're paying...

The pile in the bottom right is eBay stuff...Middle right is office stuff...Back right is Home office stuff...and my cornhole boards...middle and back left is mostly garage stuff...Front left is Baby stuff...

The cost of indecision...storing baby stuff for future chitlins...I did have something in there my dad needed though...a fertilizer spreader...see...it's good that I brought all this crap with me...

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Day 18

There it is....
The official Business Card...

I think I gave out more 'temporary' business cards in my first 12 days than I did in my last 11 years....

We'll see how long it takes me to go through a box....Something I've never done...

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Day 17

It's official...

The eBay operations are back up and running...
and if anyone is interested in a Nitro powered remote controlled stadium truck that hits speeds in the neighborhood of 65-70mph...Just check the bay...

Stupid eBay...It got pulled the first time I posted it because I used the words "Like New" in the title...That's apparently spam language...I figure the other guy selling a similar truck filed a complaint...it's just idiotic....

it's just gonna be kinda awkward....you know...I'm gonna have to ship all my stuff to Rob R. (since he's the shipping dept. and all) so that he can ship it out...

Monday, April 14, 2008

Day 16

For all of you....
Who think that one day you may want to come visit the Compton family in their 'Native' land....

Here's one more reason...In addition to our sparkling smiles...Our witty sarcasm...(and that's an imperial WE...because we all know that I really do have enough sarcasm for the whole family), and our casual attire, re. wrinkly, (and once again...that's an imperial OUR)...

It's a drive through Daiquiri place...
They're practically on every corner...

There's nothing quite like downing a frozen mind eraser on the way to the local Dollar General...

Sunday, April 13, 2008

Day 15

Gosh...It's been 15 days since I've been able to hug my family...and I just miss them all so much...
Daniel and Dean both had their first games this weekend...and I missed them...
Janet celebrated her birthday and I wasn't there...
It's tough...

I can't wait to be back with my family.

If you know anyone looking for a house....just let me know...

Saturday, April 12, 2008

Day 14

What can I say...
Tis the season to Devour...

This is 40 pounds of crawfish....
They're about to be eaten....
They didn't know it...

Until we dropped them into a 30 gallon pot of Boiling hot water filled with corn, potatoes, mushrooms, garlic and sausage...

I'm pretty sure they knew it after that....

By the 3rd pot..I couldn't feel my lips...

It was a good day...

Friday, April 11, 2008

Day 13

Happy Birthday Janet!

That's right....for the next 7 months...I'm married to an older woman...

Speaking of changes...
Look how much has changed in just one week...
I have Dean and Daniel art on the wall...
I have a Muppet on the desk...
and I'm wearing Tennis Shoes...

Okay...I like casual Friday again....

Thursday, April 10, 2008

Day 12

Driving across the Mississippi River today....

This is a shot out of the passenger side window...facing south...

Currently...according to this website:

The River is now 5.5 feet above flood level...
Click the photo to zoom....where the grass stops is the top of the levee...and it looks to be about 6 feet to water level....That's usually about a 20 foot distance....

Pretty scary stuff...

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

Day 11

There she is....
That's the view out of my window...Into the maintenance yard...
The little Ford Ranger facing out....
That's my new Vehicle...complete with a gas card...

I mean....forgetting the fact that it smells...a little like stale cat pee....It's totally awesome...

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

Day 10

So....
People ask me...
What are YOU going to do to help?  What can YOU possibly do to beautify that place?

I don't know....
What can I do?

Here's a fine example of a trash receptacle located within a Public ROW....at a stoplight...

Perhaps I could start here...

Monday, April 7, 2008

Day 9

So I started the torture yesterday...

I went and looked at houses....
Houses that I can't afford until I sell the house in Orlando...

This was a brand new home...Acadian style...with Antique Cypress throughout...
The floors in the kitchen were brick...

This was a nice house.....

Day 8

Alright...I'm no fuddy duddy...
But...
Seriously...
What year is this?
I mean...Come on...As if sticking a flaming Cancer Stick in your mouth isn't a bad enough thing...

but now...you're gonna smoke next to the gas pump?
Can smokers just not read?
Is that the real problem here?

Smokers are illiterate???

Saturday, April 5, 2008

Day 7

Okay...so...I've been in Louisiana for a grand total of 6 days...
Meals so far:
Jazz Daddy Special, 2 Shrimp PoBoys, A very drippy and very delicious Prime Rib Sandwich, and about 11 pounds of boiled crawfish...

Seriously....I should hit 200 pounds by the end of '08...

Friday, April 4, 2008

Day 6

Casual Friday sucks when you're the boss...

Thursday, April 3, 2008

Day 5

Unofficially reviewed a set of plans for a proposed TND project...It's the first of it's kind in this area...so...It's not what I would call GREAT....Yet...Lots of potential....

So....I've introduced the first toy into the office....Can you find it in this picture?

I'll unbox it in the next couple of days...
Not sure if a GIANT Sweetums Muppet figure is gonna fit in...just yet...

The white box is nice though....

Wednesday, April 2, 2008

Day 4

So Beautiful...It's a candle light lunch...
You know why?

The power went out right in the middle of lunch...
so...there we are...7 dudes sitting around the table...eating...and sweating...

It was very romantic...

Oh...and here's a
shot of the new office...
No toys...yet...
Nothing on the walls...yet...but I do have
a window...I'll take a photo of that soon...It's the maintenance yard...

Look how neat I stacked my papers...It almost looks like I have ACTUAL work to do...

And that's a Bubbalou's box back there...Very High-falootin'...

Tuesday, April 1, 2008

Day 3

So...The new job begins...
I get the tour...I meet about 100 new people...I organize the new office...and begin to get the 'lay of the land'...
I was called SIR for the first time in my life by someone that is older than me....Which was REALLY Weird...

My first print didn't go too well...I was trying to print the calendar of upcoming events...and I guess....I sent it to the wrong printer...and apparently printed it on Permit Paper...who knew...

I had the 'orange suits' come into my office and help me move some furniture around....

Generally speaking...the first day went pretty good...and I guess I'll go back....

I miss my family.

Day 2

Today...My brothers gave me a HUGE set of helping hands...and helped me unload the UHaul at a storage facility...
Well...needless to say...it was like the good old days...with the brothers jabberjawing about how much JUNK I was moving from Orlando to Louisiana...I told them I guess I deserved the lip...you know...it's not like hired help would bust your chops over how many Rubbermaids full of action figures that they would have to lift...

so...like I was saying....the good old days....I'm walking backwards up the loading ramp...putting something back in the truck with my brother Nick on the downward slope...and my older brother decides to distract me with some nonsense about my GIANT fertilizer spreader....and Whoops...down I go...I stepped right off the side of the ramp...like it wasn't even there....I banged the stink out of my leg...and back...and butt...
It hurt like a MUTHA....

Day 1

So....
Driving from Casselberry, Fl...to Prairieville, LA...17' UHaul...with my mom following me in the Explorer....
Overall an uneventful trip...Other than spending about $400 on gas...

Oh...we stopped at this 'REALLY' nice gas station....in Alabama...(Roll Tide)...that had an ashtray in the stall...I thought how nice...I could grab a smoke...while...dealing with one of my "issues"...

Mind you...this wasn't one of those visits....Thankfully...
